These unique mica based tapes are in use as primary and secondary
insulation in AC and DC motors and generators up to 7,000 volts.
Isovolta Inc./US Samica's 12102 and 12104 tape's have been
successfully used for "soft end" coils in 13.8 kV applications.
A flexible brushing varnish or shrinkable armor tape is used
for additional security against contamination and moisture on
these designs.
12102 and 12104 tapes contain a unique B-staged elastomeric
resin system that cures to a tough rubber-like polymer that
creates a tight conformable layer-to-layer insulation with outstanding
electrical properties.

Isovolta Inc./US Samica's High Performance Patented film faced
mica tapes are designed for use in dip and bake, VPI and press
cured applications. They are soft, conformable and well bonded,
which allows for high speed taping on even the smallest coil configuration.

Voltage Endurance Tests - 12102 Tape
1. 5 iron bars 30mm × 10mm × 1000mm
One bar failed at 7,821 hours. All four remaining bars continued
to be electrically stressed for 9,000 hours with no failures,
at which time the test was discontinued.
2. Tape with 12102 half lapped.
3. Tape was not coated or impregnated
4. A 2mm wall (50.8 mils).
5. Voltage stress - 15 kV.
